McKale & Kurt's Pre Wedding Shoot + Same Day Edit

McKale & Kurt have this incredible light coming from them that it's just a pleasure to hang out with them. They are so positive and grateful for everything and everyone in their lives that it inspires me to be a better person. Today was so much fun, especially since Kristina Curtis from www.kristinacurtisphotography.com was there for the fun. She's just so great to have around the wedding day - super nice and also talented.

I am full of gratitude that I have been so blessed to capture one of the most important days in a bride and groom's life and I get to hang out with positive and happy people. I just eat it up :)

Chris & Steph's Pre Wedding Shoot

Chris and Steph have a really soft love that is perfectly surrounded with blossoms. This is the kind of video I love doing - very subtle yet powerful. It's all the little things that matter and a video shows the small smiles, tender hugs and little nuances that nothing else can share. These are the kinds of moments that you can't explain to your future children and they really need to see it to experience it... and they will :)

Kaitlyn + Justin's Teaser // Oquirrh Mountain Temple

Kaitlyn + Justin // Teaser from David Perry on Vimeo.

Some of the craziest wind is at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple in South Jordan (The city was originally named "Gale"). Take a look at Kaitlyn and Justin's Teaser to see why I absolutely love filming in the wind. I'm always looking for motion and movement and this is one of the biggest differences from photography.

Jordan & Kevin's First Look // Salt Lake Temple

People ask me if I get burned out shooting weddings for the past 13 years.

It's just the opposite. That's what has kept me young.
How can you get tired of seeing the look on a couples face when they see each other for the first time in their wedding attire? It reaffirms that there is still hope, love and goodness in this crazy world of ours.

Bring it!

McKenzi & McKay's First Look // This is the Place Park

This is what you call "smitten". Love it!

You'll notice the city shot near the end with a glass bridge in the background. McKay proposed by the bridge and she said yes :) He had his family on the bridge with umbrellas that once opened said "WILL U MARRY ME?" They were down below looking up.

Daniel & Savana's First Look // Bountiful Temple

Daniel and Savana are so perfect for each other. I love that prayer and inspiration are a huge part of their relationship and it's easy to see God's hand in their lives. I filmed Daniel's sister Camille's wedding in December and it feels like I've been adopted into their family. I was so grateful to attend their sealing and it was so beautiful, peaceful and a spiritual experience for me. I love the temple and the blessings that come from the temple as it has changed my life in so many wonderful ways. Every time I attend I leave feeling peaceful, hopeful and full of love for others :)

Although I didn't film their wedding dinner, they invited me and my wife to attend as guests and it was a wonderful evening. Savana's brother made me laugh with his toast. Savana comes from a small town (Tabiona, UT) and he mentioned that being from a small town they always have to approve of their sisters date. They were waiting for Daniel to arrive with Savana to visit the family for the first time and when Daniel stepped out of the car and they saw how big he is, they walked right up and said, "Welcome to the family!" ha ha.

We sat at the same table as Camille (Daniel's sister) and her husband Logan Laycock. I've filmed Logan's sister's wedding as well (that's how Daniel's family found me)and his parents were also at our table with whom we had a wonderful conversation. It turns out that their great something grandfather is John Taylor and my great something grandfather's are John Solomon Fullmer and William Riley Cole who knew John Taylor very well. In fact, they were both there when Joseph Smith and the others went to Carthage Jail and were later martyred. I wonder if they were aware of our little chat that evening :).

So grateful for the Lord's tender mercies that bring wonderful people into my life, especially Daniel and Savana. Hope this video captures how special they are for each other as well as the blessing of the temple and our ancestors.

Spring First Look // Salt Lake Temple

Madeline and Zach are getting married tomorrow, but their video is already half way done :)

Filming prior to the wedding is a way for you two to have your own time together. I had no idea until I was married how insane it gets the last couple weeks before the wedding and of course the wedding day. I had to take a break with my fiance from everything just to catch our breath and remember WHY we were getting married.

A pre shoot is a great time to do that. We take our time to get some amazing shots and really just enjoy the break from everything. When I film it's really just hanging out capturing candid moments and it's actually fun and relaxing. Fortunately for me I have a very easy going personality and often receive comments from brides that I help them relax and just be themselves. That's probably because the most important thing to me at a wedding is that you enjoy your wedding. It's not the video, nor the pictures, nor the cake or anything else. It's your experience! Everything else will fall into place if you focus on the reason WHY you are getting married and surround yourself with others who do the same.

I absolutely love filming and enjoying the experience of the day and you should too!

Jared + Kristen Eyring // Salt Lake Temple

Jared and Kristen's same day edit from today. It was a beautiful fall day with the lovely Jessica Kettle from www.jessicakettle.com. Jared said he had a headache until he watched the video at the wedding dinner, then his headache was magically gone. Perhaps this could be a source of future 'headache remedy" in the future :)

My Peaceful Place

There are few places I feel more at peace than the Salt Lake Temple grounds in the evening. Tonight was one of those evenings as Rob saw Mayela for the first time in her wedding gown and here's a sneak peak.

Timpanogos Temple Teaser (say that five times fast)

Who says the Mt Timp Temple can't be an amazing place to shoot? The sky can be just mind blowing and across the road from the temple is a stone amphitheater near some great backroads. The trick is to film near the evening when everything is just magical. That's when magic rings do crazy stuff (lol).

Much love to Mitch and Danyelle :)
