Madison + Chris Preshoot/Temple

Love this family as this is the third wedding I've shot for them. Anyone that has to do "The Claw" photo at every wedding is alright in my book. You can't tell, but it was pretty chilly as winter is fast approaching.

We shot the second part of the film the day before and then I added the first half of the song today. You can tell when it suddenly shifts gears from candids to just the couple as it shows both the fun and the romantic sides of their relationship.

Special thanks to Melissa Kelsey from www.melissakelseyphotography.com. Sooo great to have along on the wedding day and you should see some of the images she is capturing.

The reception tonight was such a blast. Grandma was dancing the night away like I've never seen. Watch for the teaser coming soon!

Nate + Maren = 8mm Film + Digital Film

Nate & Maren are the quintessential love birds. My wife Danielle commented that it's wonderful to see a groom that is head over heels for the bride. Easy to see what a great guy Nate is. Maren is uber adorable with her charming smile and her attention to the wedding details is superb. Being the owner of http://www.elizabethandhomer.com/ shined through. Her tag line "Unmistakeably Unique. Unmistakably You." was the spring board for the approach to her wedding film being the only wedding I have ever mixed 8mm film and Digital film (Canon 5D MarkII). In fact, her wedding was the very first wedding I ever shot with the Canon 5D MarkII but I knew it was what we needed to keep it candid and classy. Interesting to contrast the vintage 8mm Film with the cutting edge super clean Digital Film! To make the transition between the two, I cut the natural audio during the 8mm Film sections and I also transcoded the Digital Film to 24p through Cineform's Neo Scene.

One of the highlights of the wedding was the Scottish Hand Clasping ceremony. This is where the phrase "Tying the Knot" originated. And I must say that any wedding with a piper is top notch in my book! (I come from the McNeil and McCullouch clans in Edinburgh). Nate & Maren presented their family with framed genealogical charts which was a very nice touch to show their gratitude and also recognize their great heritage.

Maren's friend custom made the dress, which I absolutely love and the little girls are just cute as Ill get out. They had a little tree where guests could hang their advice or congrats to the newlyweds and the cake by (Sugar Kisses Cakes) matched Maren's shoes and dress by Melissa at melissablackburn.net Audrey from Studio Stems did an amazing job with the flowers!!. Loved the details at this wedding!

We were fortunate to have my friend Duston Todd from www.dustontodd.com who shot entirely on film - and made a few cameos. He was cracking us up all day with his jokes and singing. Fun times, fun times.

Putting aside all the talk of cameras and frame rates, the best wedding films aren't about the equipment but better measured on the hug-o-meter. If it makes you want to hug someone after watching it then it's a success. All I have to say is be prepared to hug someone after watching this fun little clip.

Read about what Maren had to say on her blog and I hope you enjoy the film!

Scott + Becky Preshoot

Scott & Becky came up from Las Vegas for a preshoot since I'm not available on their wedding day. I love, love, love preshoots. You probably noticed that I post a lot of these and it's because we can take the time to really have some fun and get some great shots.

Shot with the most fabulous www.rebekahwestover.com. Check out the photos on her blog.
